The Peace Collective and several other organizations held a march this weekend to show solidarity with Palestine, and launched an online petition urging the Governor to support international efforts for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

The organizers previously said, “The Peace Collective, along with Social Justice Bermuda, the Muslim Community of Bermuda, Progressive Minds, and Bermuda is Love, is organizing a Peaceful Protest and March in solidarity with Palestine on Saturday, June 22, 2024. This event is part of a global movement to raise awareness and call for an immediate and permanent humanitarian ceasefire, unimpeded aid to the Gaza Strip and an end to the occupation and bloodshed.”

Maybe to be a little more PC the sign shouldn’t have said “Bermuda stands with Palestine” but instead said “WE stand with Palestine” .

  2. Question says:

No mention of the immediate release of all remaining hostages though. I wonder why.

To those who want to “End the Genocide”, I think you were at the wrong event.

It is Hamas that has the stated objective of eliminating all Jews from the face of the planet.

Israel has no such policy in relation to Palestinians.

    • Hilarious! says:

Facts are meaningless to demonstrators. This group seems to have quickly forgotten that Hamas attacked Israel, murdered Israelis in their homes, and kidnapped people. Oh, and Hamas is listed by governments as a terrorist group. Logically, anyone who supports Hamas is supporting terrorism. It is not outside the realm of possibility that such demonstrators could be put on No Fly lists.

Israel, Australia, Japan, UK, US, others have officially designated Hamas a terrorist organization – European Union has also designated Hamas a terrorist group – October 13, 2023
Apart from the U.S., the U.K., Israel, Australia, Japan and the European Union are among other countries and regional blocs that have officially designated Hamas as a terrorist organization.

U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “The people who support Hamas are fully responsible for this appalling attack. They are not militants. They are not freedom fighters. They are terrorists.” Sunak joined a vigil with local communities at Finchley United Synagogue in London.

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong gave a speech on Oct. 11 with regard to the attacks on Israel.

“Australia stands against terrorism. We stand in solidarity with Israel. We unequivocally condemn the attack by Hamas: Indiscriminate rocket fire, the targeting of civilians and the taking of hostages. I reiterate Israel’s right to defend itself,” she said in her speech via the minister for foreign affairs website.

Hopefully we can get that kind of turn out for labor day march or when our own government oppresses us.

Curious, from the photos, why are there no BPS officers outside of the US Consulate? Was there a permit issued for this demonstration?
