Video: Sunday Aug 18th “Good News” Spotlight

News that the Department of Transportation’s Digital Fare Media Team earned the Public Service Excellence Award, the Ministry of Education hosted the 2024 Scholarships and Awards Reception, the Ex-Artillerymen’s Association’s annual Mother’s Day brunch on May 12 resulted in a $1,000 donation to The Eliza Dolittle Society, Butterfield announced the successful conclusion of its 2024 Summer Internship programme, and the National Dance Foundation of Bermuda presented scholarships and bursaries were all some of the good news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, Donna Raynor attended the Olympics as part of her role on the World Athletics Council, where she presented a gold medal and met Snoop Dogg, Chare Smith and his Uphill Castle Cricket Club teammates defeated Winscombe Cricket Club by eight wickets, Appleby announced its sponsorship of the Bermuda Triathlon Association’s Youth Development Squad for the 2024 CARIFTA Championships, Penn State celebrated five current and former members of its swimming and diving program who competed up the 2024 Paris Olympics, including Bermudian swimmers Emma and Jack Harvey, and the St. George’s Cricket Club was crowned the premier division champions, while the Warwick Workmen’s Club are the first division champions.

Other good news stories included Malcolm Hendrickson being awarded the Carey Olsen Investing in People scholarship for 2024, interns Sari Smith, Joshua Thorne, and Hannah Deacon concluding the Allied World Internship Program, CPA Bermuda getting set to give away 500 pre-stuffed backpacks, Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation raising $139,964 thanks to community support, and the National Museum of Bermuda getting set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a fundraising party on October 5.
