Tennis: Bermuda U-12 Girls Defeat Bahamas

Bermuda’s under-12 girls’ and boys’ tennis teams continued their campaigns at the 2025 ITF/COTECC Sub Region 3 competition, overcoming weather disruptions to deliver strong performances on Wednesday.

The girls’ team, captained by Steve Bean and featuring Chloe McBrearty, Lee Terciera, and Arianna Parra Delgado, secured a dominant 3-0 win over the Bahamas. Parra Delgado led the charge in the no. 1 singles position, defeating Lisa-Anne Sampson 6-0, 6-1. McBrearty followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Londyn Mortimer in the no. 2 singles. In doubles, Terciera and McBrearty combined to beat Sampson and Kennadi Major 6-1, 6-3.

The boys’ team, led by captain Evan Heyliger and including Trystan Thompson, Oliver Anderson, and Manuel Maldonado, also started strong in their matchup against Dominica Two before rain suspended play.

Anderson opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Derek Javier Diclo in the no. 1 singles match, while Thompson extended Bermuda’s lead with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Dilan Canario in the no. 2 singles. In doubles, Maldonado and Thompson led 6-3, 2-1 against Canario and Jose Ureña before rain halted play. The match is scheduled to resume on Thursday.
