Bermuda To Hosts CTO Connectivity Summit
Bermuda will host the Caribbean Tourism Organization Air Connectivity Summit on February 24, bringing together regional tourism ministers and global airline executives to strengthen air access and sustainable growth.
A spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, in collaboration with the Bermuda Tourism Authority, will host the Caribbean Tourism Organization [CTO] Air Connectivity Summit on February 24, 2026, in Bermuda. The high-level forum will convene regional tourism leaders and international airline partners to advance strategic dialogue on strengthening air access and fostering sustainable tourism growth across the Caribbean.
“The Caribbean Tourism Organization’s [CTO] Air Connectivity Summit will bring together top airline executives, airport leaders, tourism ministers, directors, and policymakers to address one of the region’s most enduring challenges: enhancing air connectivity. The one-day event, titled “Integrating Aviation and Regional Tourism Development,” is set for Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. Hosted by CTO in partnership with the Government of Bermuda, the summit is part of the organization’s Spring Business Meetings. It aligns with the CTO’s Reimagine Plan and the work of its Airlift Committee to promote sustainable growth through better connectivity. Participants and speakers include 16 Tourism Ministers from the Caribbean region, as well as representatives from non-CTO countries, including Aruba, Canada, Chile, Ireland, Malta, Mexico, Panama, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.”
CTO Secretary-General and CEO Dona Regis-Prosper said, “This summit brings together the people making decisions that directly shape how the region connects with itself and the world, By uniting ministers, airline leaders, airport authorities and tourism executives in one forum, we are creating a platform for alignment, collaboration and action.”
The spokesperson said, “As part of the programme, the Hon. Minister Owen Darrell, JP, MP, will engage in a series of bilateral meetings with senior airline executives to discuss opportunities to enhance air service to Bermuda. Air Service Development remains a central pillar of the Government’s tourism strategy, supporting economic resilience, expanding visitor access, and reinforcing Bermuda’s competitive position in key source markets.
“In October 2025, Minister Darrell and the Air Service Development team held productive meetings with senior executives from JetBlue, American Airlines, and British Airways to review Bermuda’s air service performance, scheduling, and future capacity requirements. As a result of meetings with American Airlines, airlift capacity has increased by adding a larger aircraft to service Bermuda this spring. In addition, the daily Miami service has been maintained throughout the January-March period, unlike the winter of 2025. These engagements reflect the Government’s proactive approach to strengthening partnerships with global carriers and aligning capacity with projected demand.”
Minister Darrell stated, “The Summit align with the CTO’s Reimagine Plan to support sustainable growth through improved connectivity throughout the region and internationally. By welcoming regional and international partners to Bermuda, the Government underscores its leadership role in advancing connectivity solutions that drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and position the island for sustained long-term success within the global tourism marketplace. Hosting this meeting in Bermuda provides a valuable platform to advance our discussions with key international airline partners on expanded airlift capacity. These conversations are particularly timely as we prepare for the reopening of the Fairmont Southampton in 2026, which will significantly enhance the island’s tourism product and accommodation inventory.”
The spokesperson said, “The CTO Summit is closed to the public. However, CITV will livestream the Opening Ceremony and Keynote address on Tuesday, 24 February at 9:00 a.m. on the Bermuda Government’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and on the Government’s television station [CITV], which can be found on OneComm Ch 2, WOW Ch 102, Digicel Ch 103″.
