Bermuda Beats Latvia & Norway In Lacrosse

World_Lacrosse_Championship_logoThe Bermuda National Men’s Lacrosse Team continues to put on an excellent showing at the 2010 FIL World Championships in Manchester England. The team, coached by Steve Colfer, already had one win under their belt having beaten Denmark 11-8 on July 18th. They have gone on to notch up two more wins; beating both Latvia and Norway.

On July 20th, they beat Norway 8-4, with three goals from Dominic Gallina, two from Ernie Therriault, two from Tyler Masters and one from DJ Johnston. Bermuda took the early lead with two goals, and Norway staged a comeback adding in three goals of their own. Bermuda equalized in the 43rd minute, and maintained the lead to the end.

On July 22nd, they edged past Latvia to win 8-7, with three goals from Dominic Gallina, three from from DJ Johnston, and two from Tyler Masters. Bermuda was down 4-1 in the 15th minute, added three goals in the next 20 minutes to equalize and traded goals with Latvia until edging them out in the 73rd minute of play.

The Bermuda team had made their debut at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships in 2006, and recorded their first win in 2010. So far in this tournament, they have played six games, winning three.
