Digicel Providing Free Wi-Fi At Cup Match

August 1, 2012

Digicel announced today [Aug 1] that it will offer free Wi-Fi at the Cup Match event this year to attending fans. Available on Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 3, the free Wi-Fi will be accessible from phones, tablets and laptops.

“Cup Match is the pinnacle of Bermudian festivities,” stated Wayne Caines, CEO of Digicel Bermuda. “In this festive spirit, we are excited to offer free Wi-Fi to anyone attending the game as a gesture of both celebration and goodwill. We wish all of our customers and the general public a safe and happy Cup Match holiday.”

The provision of free Wi-Fi at Cup Match follows the July launch of Digicel and Transact’s Wi-Fi service at Horseshoe Bay Beach and Clearwater Beach, which offers Wi-Fi access to beachgoers starting at $2.95 for one hour.

So SCC works with TBI to provide service for a small fee, Digicel cuts in and announces the day before the classic event starts that they are going to cut in and provide for free and get congratulations. Look inside the grounds of SCC and see if you can find find Digicel. So glad I switched to Cellone with their logo sprayed on the grounds of SCC along with the other sponsors Guess Digicel hasn’t considered they are cutting the throat of the host club.

Shame on you Digicel! SCC the field looks fabulous.

      @ Mommas
Did Cell 1 move their call center to the USA and cut local jobs so that they could afford to spray paint their logo on the field?

  8. flywheel says:

Thanks Digicel for the free wifi for Cup match.
However in offering this free service how come you can’t slash your prices for wifi and providie it on a more freedom basis in other parts of the island or to your longer serving customers?

  9. Confused says:

Im confused. I took my iPad to the game and when I connected to the Digicel network and tried to click on a website a page came up saying the cost was $5 for one day, $10 for two days of wifi access. How did you access the free wifi?

    Thanks

      You are very “CONFUSED” .
Not to mention technically challenged. You were on the cellular network where TBI’s wifi splash page came up.
TBI had originally tried to gouge people with the silly $5 and 10 charges. Then Digicel came in and offered wifi for free.
      Digicel 1
      TBI 0

      • Confused says:

Well excuse me! That hardly makes me technically challenged considering I tried to connect to the only network that showed up and it had Digicel at the top of the page. Sorry that I am not the Wifi expert that you are. I hope you don’t work in any sort of IT customer service capacity with that arrogant rude attitude. Remind me not to ask anything on these message boards again with the rude responses that people give. I hope you aren’t Bermudian cause you would be another example of how our people have lost our ability to be kind and helpful.
