AME Church: ‘Voting Is A Responsibility’

The African Methodist Episcopal Church said they “salute the voting public as the polls open in Bermuda.”

A statement from the Church said: “Our prayers for encouragement and strength are offered on behalf of every candidate along with their family members during this election.”

“Voting is a responsibility that a Christian is to take seriously, as respect for civil government is taught in Scripture.

“In the Special Resolutions of the 126th Annual Conference eligible A.M.E. members were to “be informed, educated and encouraged to exercise their responsibility to vote” in the event of an election.

“The A.M.E. Church desires that its members join the electorate in prayerful, careful and peaceful participation in the political process. “
