Tyler Butterfield Finishes 7th In Hawaii Ironman
[Updated] Bermuda’s Tyler Butterfield has claimed a 7th place finish at the 2013 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, which is widely considered one of the most iconic endurance events in the world.
This year’s World Championship welcomes a field of more than 2,000 athletes from over 50 different countries around the world. The 140.6-mile race includes a 2.4 mile swim in the Pacific Ocean, a 112 mile cycle and a 26.2 mile run.

Tyler was excellent – he was in fourth place until the last few miles – I was glued to my computer during the stream, I wish it could have been broadcast on TV – he ran a good race and came across the line with the Bermuda flag – I’m sure his family was proud as I was to see him up there with the best. Next year could be that podium finish.

Congrats Tyler! We are all lucky enough to have followed ty since he was a young runner but in the iron man world he is a relative new comer. To beat some of the greats and come in 7th place surprised allot of people in the tri world. His best years are ahead of him at the iron man distance, fingers crossed for a podium in the next couple of years!
Tyler will get an Olympic medal!
