Sunday February 8th: “Good News” Spotlight

The island played host to a number of heart-warming stories over the past week, with some of the positive news including the Bermuda Youth Rugby U17 squad cleaning up the Railway Trail on both sides of Store Hill, HSBC Bermuda announcing that their staff have logged 2,500 volunteer hours, news that Clarien has donated $13,466 to Meals on Wheels, and Somersfield Academy student Selaah Stephenson’s creation of a 10-foot tall mural of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

Other good news stories over the past week included Digicel Bermuda revealing that they will continue to sponsor squash player Micah Franklin, news that football player Detre Bell has been selected as All-State, the Duke of Edinburgh Award thanking RUBiS, James Stout winning the British Open rackets title for the third time and Flora Duffy opening her 2015 season with a win in the Philippines.

    Awesome good news! Yes, while we have a long way to go we’re doing really really good Bermuda. And it takes everyone to do good. Everyone to help in one way shape or form. I’m talking the lower socio economic, the blue collar worker, manager & white color worker, the higher socio economic, the privaledged and non privaledgd. All of us have a part to play. We can do this but it means with EVERYONES effort.
