Young Debaters To Represent Bermuda In BVI

Two young Bermudian debaters selected from the island’s Youth Parliament have flown overseas to represent Bermuda at the 11th Regional Commonwealth Youth Parliament Conference in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Zaji Smith, a student at Saltus Grammar School, and Destinee Taylor, a recent graduate of the CedarBridge Academy, will face competition from the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Nevis, and Trinidad & Tobago.

The motion to debated on will be “The Participation of Young People in any Representative Democracy.”

Debaters Travel To Tortola

The debate will be held on Thursday, July 30 at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at the H. Laity Stoutt Community College.

The young ladies are accompanied by Youth Parliament advisor Dawn Broadbelt.
