Bermuda Basketball Star To Represent Britain
Bermudian basketball star Jenaya Wade-Fray has been selected as part of the Great Britain national team for the Eurobasket Championships this summer.
The Great Britain team will play a number of international matched against Ukraine, Slovak Republic, Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, Belgium, Holland and Israel. They will be coached by Tom Maher, who lead the Australian basketball team to two Olympic medals in 2000 and 1996.
Training camp starts on June 4, and the competitive Eurobasket schedule gets underway on August 14.
Fellow Bermudian Erica Woods played for the U/20 Great Britain National Team last year, traveling to Estonia, Greece and Macedonia for the U/20 European Championships.
Considered Bermuda’s two biggest female basketball stars, both ladies were members of the bronze medal winning Bermudian team at the 2007 Island Games. Interestingly enough, both ladies are listed at 5ft 9″, both hail from St. Georges and both play the same position – guard.
