Starting today CARICOM will convene the 2nd Meeting of the Resource Mobilisation Ministerial Sub-Committee for Crime and Security and the 11th Meeting of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Law Enforcement (CONSLE).

CONSLE is chaired by Sen. the Hon. Dr. L. Errol Cort, Minister of National Security and Labour of Antigua and Barbuda.

Minister Burch will join National Security Ministers from such countries as Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago to discuss regional matters relating to security and policing.

Also on the agenda are other law enforcement issues arising from the work done by Bermuda’s Commissioner of Police and Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment in their work with the regional agency Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS).

Of particular interest will also be the discussion on matters arising from the first meeting of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) – a joint initiative between the US and the region launched earlier this year.

Minister Burch said, “The agenda is one that looks to address a number of common areas of concern for Bermuda and the Caribbean region. Representing Bermuda and the Government at such a forum is quite timely, as there are common challenges that all countries in the region are currently facing, particularly as it relates to gun violence and anti-social behaviour. As is my custom – I shall provide a full report on my return.”

Minister Burch returns to the Island at the weekend.

He is taking over from Brown traveling all over the world unnecessary on the public purses.
When will it ever end :(

No, it will never end. The UK is already paying for our National defense. Burch & Co would be better off picking up a paint brush and looking after our public schools.
