Jackson & Butterfield Off To India Film School
Bermuda’s first students to attend India’s Whistling Woods Film Academy in India have departed Bermuda to begin their course of study.
Jason Jackson and Charles Butterfield (pictured L-R) jetted off to Boston, then to Paris before finally landing in India late Thursday Bermuda time.
Whistling Woods International is Asia’s largest Film, Television, Animation and Media Arts institute. The campus is based in Mumbai’s Film & Television Production centre Filmcity, and offers courses that vary in duration from 10 months to 30 months, both full-time and part time in nature.
All major specializations of the Media & Entertainment industry are catered to, including Acting, Animation, Cinematography, Direction, Editing, Producing, and Screenwriting.
Almost 15% of their student body comprises of International students from countries like US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Mauritius and many more.
The Bermuda Government established a scholarship fund under the NTB for up to two Bermudian students for two years to pursue their education in India. The scholarship will allow Messrs Jackson and Butterfield to commence study for the July 2011 semester. The scholarship will cover tuition and boarding only, students will incur any other expenses.
We spoke with Mr Butterfield before he left, and he said “I just wanna broaden myself all over, not just Bermuda. So I’m not limitless… I would honestly say I would look at that as a big opportunity.”
