Screening of ‘Where the Whales Sing’

November 15, 2011

Documentarian Andrew Stevenson has a whale of a tale to tell about the migratory humpbacks which visit the island every year — and this week the award-winning naturalist and author will be screening his film “Where the Whales Sing” at the Bermuda College.

The screening is on Thursday [Nov.17] from 6.30-8.30 at North Hall G301. Tickets are $10.00 — with children admitted free — and are available on www.bdatix.com or at the door.

“After the film is shown I’ll also be providing updates on what has happened in the two seasons since I finished making the film,” he said, “particularly about some of the main characters who are featured in the documentary, the humpbacks I’ve called ‘Magical Whale’, ‘Candle’ and ‘Harry Potter’.”

Mr. Stevenson will also be signing copies of the film’s companion book, “Whale Song: Journeys Into the Secret Lives of North Atlantic Humpbacks” published by Constable and Robinson in London last month.

“This 200-page large format book with 300 of my photographs and 37,000 words of text is based on the research I have conducted for the  Bermuda Humpback Whale Film & Research Project in recent years,” said Mr. Stevenson.
