The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service responded to a fire at an Ord Road residence this morning [Dec 23]. Four firefighters attended the scene, and a female resident of the home was transported to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire Service spokesperson Lieutenant Leonard Davis confirmed that at 9:15am this morning, the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service responded to a report of smoke seen emitting from a residence on Ord Road, Warwick.

“The Fire Service responded to the incident with one fire appliance staffed with four firefighters,” Lt. Davis said. ”The duty crew arrived on scene in approximately ten minutes to discover a residence filled with smoke and one person suffering from breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation.”

On-duty Sergeant Scott Quinn said that smoke extractors were used to aid in ventilating the property. The victim was given oxygen and a nebulizer to help assist with their breathing.

“Once it was determined that the individual was still experiencing breathing difficulties, they were transported to KEMH by ambulance staff for further observations,” said Sergeant Quinn.
