BELCO Bird To Advise Kite Fliers On Safe Spots
The BELCO Bird will be touring some of Bermuda’s safe kite flying areas today [Apr 18], helping the public to stay safe as they enjoy the island’s traditional pastime this Good Friday.
The BELCO Bird will be appearing at the following locations.
- 11.00am – Royal Naval Field
- 12.00pm – Horseshoe Bay
- 1.30pm – St. David’s Primary School Field
The BELCO bird is also advising the public of several general kite safety rules:
- Always use the correct supplies when making a kite
- Keep your kites away from power lines and busy roads
- Only fly your kites in safe places, such as beaches, fields, and playgrounds [away from overhead power lines]
- Only fly your kites on bright, sunny days
- If your kite gets caught in power lines, don’t tug on the tail or pull the string
- If your kite is caught in power lines, call BELCO at 955 and then dial “0″ to speak with the operator
