CellOne Announce New Roaming ‘Travel Pass’

May 1, 2014

CellOne announced today its customers can now take advantage of lower roaming rates while travelling to Canada, the UK and Ireland in addition to the US.

With the new ‘Travel Pass’ customers can subscribe to the $25 monthly plan for travel in any of the four locations. Usage rates are as low as 25 cents per minute for voice and 35 cents per megabyte of data.

“We continue to work with our roaming partners in other markets to lower the cost of using smartphones and tablets while travelling.” says Frank Amaral, CellOne’s CEO.

“This new offer means that when CellOne customers land at their destination, they can use their mobile devices more freely knowing the cost of roaming is affordable, in particular as it relates to web browsing and using apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.”

Based on CellOne’s own usage statistics, the vast majority of customers can expect the average daily cost of data roaming to be less than $10 a day, the company said.

Sure, as soon as overseas carriers stop charging us to use their network. Really?

  2. Um.... says:

CellOne isn’t working with any roaming partners. They’re responding, yet again, to Digicel’s roaming offer. I’m so tired of these mobile companies. No innovation. Just predictable phone promotions (with fine print) and price adjustments. Bad move by the government to allow CellOne to buy M3. Two carriers is just going to stifle innovation.

Gosh some of you people love to complain. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. And how is it ‘following’ when it looks like this is just the direction the companies are going. Seriously, if you didn’t have something to complain about, you couldn’t justify your existence. I personally like the idea of having the option. The option of not having to take extra time out of my travels to visit those other companies again. I don’t have to use a different number AND know that I’m not being charged up a** for using my phone.

If you arent impressed then dont buy it. I know Im gonna use this, makes travel way cheaper, you dont need to get a new number with a foreign carrier and its still lower cost than buyinig a sim and data plan.
