Dr Saul Lecture: Ship Of Silver & Ship Of Gold

Former Premier Dr David Saul, who co-founded the U.S. based shipwreck recovery firm Odyssey Marine Exploration, will be giving an illustrated presentation on ‘The S.S. Gairsoppa’ and ‘The S.S. Central America’ at BUEI on July 15th at 7:30pm.

BUEI said, “The Ship of Gold” [S.S. Central America] sank to the depths of the ocean in 1857. Find out how its discovery 20 years ago led to millions of dollars in gold followed by bankruptcy charges! A fascinating and ongoing story!

Some of the silver recovered from the S.S. Gairsoppa:

“Dr. Saul will also give an update on last year’s discovery for the UK government of “The Ship of Silver” [S.S. Gairsoppa]. The S.S. Gairsoppa was torpedoed by a U Boat in 1942 off SW Ireland. Odyssey has recovered $150,000,000 in silver ingots from the shipwreck and one is on display at the BUEI.”
