Elle Writer: Fashion Designers Were “Inspiring”
The City of Hamilton recently hosted the Local Designer Showcase, giving eight local designers the opportunity to show off their unique clothing lines following a three month mentorship with international magazine editors and fashion professionals.
Among those international magazine editors was Elle representative Danielle Prescod, who went on to write an article praising not only the show, but the “tropical oasis” that is Bermuda as well.
Ms. Prescod said, “As part of a program where editors and industry professionals from New York mentored local Bermudian designers, I found myself jet-setting to the tropical oasis for an ideal combination of business and pleasure.”
Designer Juliana Gibbons shows off her line at the show:
“For a few months prior to the trip, I spent time helping a local designer hone her skills and perfect her collection.”
“What these Bermudian designers accomplished was a huge feat and incredibly inspiring. The sunshine and beaches weren’t too shabby either.”
The Local Designer Showcase event saw each of the participating designers display a high-quality fashion collection exclusively for the event, with a variety of pieces from each designer serving to show off their individual talents and styles.
The competing designers included Colleen ‘Nahlijah’ Williams, Regina Simmons, Kiara Richardson, Brittany Wolffe, Juliana Gibbons, Rochelle Minors, Satara Caisey, and Alshante Foggo.
