Sunday May 17th: “Good News” Spotlight
News that young Myah Bridgewater performed with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, over 100 students graduating from Bermuda College, Chelsea Harvey signing a scholarship with Brewton-Parker College and Andrew Fleming being named valedictorian at Mount Saint Vincent University were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In addition, East End Telecom issued its Long Service Awards, Imagine Bermuda honoured the island’s ‘Hospitality Heroes,’ and Lamont Marshall finished second in the London Runner Distance Classic in Canada, qualifying him for the Pan Am Games.
Other good news stories included the BHB Variety Committee donating $13,000 to BHCT, Rowan Border being named a Rhodes Scholar, the SPCA breaking ground on the new Stempel Stables, the Bermuda Society of Arts offering a $5,000 bursary to local students, and taxi ambassadors being honoured by a local church.
We also posted various community photo galleries, including pictures of the Bermuda College graduation ceremony, the Santo Cristo Dos Milagres Festival, the Bermuda Football Association’s Awards Gala, the Plastic Tides team in Bermuda, Berkeley Institute’s ‘Sankofa’ Fashion Show and Somersfield Academy’s Spring Fair.
