A Bermudian student attending Brescia University College said she feels a bit “numb” over the death of Shiloh Roberts.

The student who, did not wish to be named, is one of a handful of Bermudian students from several different schools who attend the university in London, Ontario.

Ms Roberts was a first-year student at the school having graduated from Bermuda High School for Girls this June. She was found on Saturday in an unresponsive state.

A spokesperson for the university said “With the sudden death of an international student at Brescia, the primary focus during this difficult time is to remain respectful of the students’ family and of the process.

“We have the appropriate counselling and support resources in place and readily available for our students, faculty and staff on campus, who are suffering through this loss.”

The Bermudian student told Bernews when she initially heard what happened she hoped it wasn’t true.

“Several of the new students had just finished Bridging Week,” the student said. “And class had just started, so it was kind of numbing to find out the truth. My prayers go out to her family.”
