Royal Family Announce Death Of Prince Philip
[Updated] Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, has died aged at 99, Buckingham Palace announced today [April 9].
The statement on the Royal Family website said, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

The Prince married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became Queen, and was the longest-serving royal consort in British history, the BBC note. Prince Philip and the Queen had four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Update 9.10am: The Bermuda London Office tweeted the photo below, saying, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family for the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. HRH had visited Bermuda on many occasions. We join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
