Football: BSSF Knock-Out Finals Results

The National Sports Center North Field saw four Bermuda School Sports Federation Knock-Out Finals take place with 16 goals scored, as some of the island’s top young footballers showcased their skills.

Primary School Girls Final: Warwick Academy 2 – Saltus Grammar School 0

Warwick Academy won the Primary School Girls’ Final with two first-half goals. Anabelle Shah broke the deadlock early in the first half with a free kick from well outside the area. Naomi MacGuinness scored a few minutes later after beating the goalkeeper to the far post. Shah was named MVP for Warwick Academy while Lynzy Pittendrigh was named MVP for Saltus.

Primary School Division 2 Final: Elliot Primary 3 – St. George’s Preparatory 2

Elliot came from two goals down to lift the Primary School Division 2 title. St. George’s took an early lead in the third minute through a long-range blast from Kayden Harvey left the Elliot goalkeeper with no chance. St. George’s would double the lead two minutes later through an own goal off of a curling corner. Elliot Primary MVP Tyiare Hollis single-handedly brought his team back in the match. Late in the first half, Hollis pounced on a rebound to bring his team within one. Five minutes later Hollis would equalize with a shot from outside the box. Both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the second half before Koa Lightbourne blasted in the winner with the last kick of the match for Elliot from just inside his own half. St. George’s Sauri Walker was named MVP for the East Enders.

Primary School Boys Division 1 Final: Warwick Academy 4 – Purvis Primary 1

Jace Postlethwaite gave Purvis Primary the lead midway through the first half. Sami Luber took matters into his own hands scoring four times to lead Warwick Academy to the title. Luber scored his first via the penalty spot before giving his team the lead with a well-struck goal from the edge of the box. He put the game out of reach with a fine solo effort after dribbling past three defenders. His final goal came moments before the final whistle. Luber was named game MVP along with Psalm Caines from Purvis Primary.

Senior School Under 16 Final: Warwick Academy 2 [3] CedarBridge Academy 2 [2]

Luke Horan scored a sensational free kick with the last kick of the game to equalize for Warwick Academy and send the final into a penalty shootout. Warwick had taken the lead in the 12th minute when Joshua Wilson’s corner kick eluded everyone including the CedarBridge keeper. Dakayo Leverock entered the match at the interval and scored a stunning 40-yard goal to equalize in the 59th minute. CedarBridge took the lead in the 64th when Jahzion Taylor met a cross from the left and sneaked it past the advancing Warwick keeper. Horan then stepped up in jury time to plant his curling free kick from outside the right corner of the box. Horan and Leverock were named MVP’s for their respective teams.
