Bermuda Sailors Face Strong Hyeres Winds
Strong easterly winds continued to affect racing at the 57th French Olympic Week in Hyères, with Bermuda sailors Sebastian Kempe, Campbell Patton and Adriana Penruddocke among those competing in the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets under challenging conditions.
Sailors faced sustained wind and heavy chop across Hyères Bay, with conditions impacting results and standings, including for the Bermudian competitors.
In the ILCA 7 fleet, Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe and Campbell Patton both dropped positions after three races. Kempe finished 34th, 15th and 40th, moving from 17th overall down to 28th with 110 net points. Patton recorded finishes of 39th, 25th and 44th, slipping from 35th to 37th overall with 155 net points.
In the ILCA 6 Silver Fleet, Bermuda’s Adriana Penruddocke recorded a race win followed by a 21st-place finish. She remains first in the Silver Fleet standings and is 46th overall with 18 net points in her division.
