Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with the PHC Zebras, Wolves, Young Men Social Club, and BAA all earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.
Premier Division
PHC Zebras 4 Devonshire Cougars 2
The PHC Zebras came from behind twice to defeat the Devonshire Cougars 4 – 2 at the PHC Stadium.
The PHC Zebras got two goals from Paul Simons, and single strikes from Arnezha Astwood and Keishon Bean, while Chris Caisey and Domico Coddigton scored the goals for the Devonshire Cougars.
Somerset Trojans 1 Robin Hood 1
At the Somerset Cricket Club, Robin Hood picked up their first point of the season in a 1 – 1 draw with the Somerset Trojans.
After a scoreless first half, Robin Hood took the lead in the 52nd minute when Barrington Tyson Gooden scored, but two minutes later Justin Corday equalized for the Somerset Trojans.
X-Roads 2 North Village Rams 2
At Lord’s in St. David’s, X-Roads and the North Village Rams played to a 2 – 2 draw, with both teams scoring a goal in each half.
X-Roads got an own goal, and a late second-half strike from Chae Brangman, while the North Village Rams got goals from Tre Ming and Justin Bell.
First Division
Wolves 4 Southampton Rangers 1
At the Wellington Oval, Wolves came from a goal down to defeat the Southampton Rangers 4 – 1.
Southampton Rangers took the lead in the 20 minute through Jahni Bean, however, Wolves equalized 5 minutes later with Morriko Iris finishing the back of the net.
Midway through the second half, Mathew Mello-Cann would score from a direct free kick from 25 yards out to give Wolves a 2 – 1 lead. Iris would score his second goal of the match in the 89th minute, and then Troy Tucker closed out the scoring in injury time to make the final score 4 – 1.
St. David’s 0 Young Men Social Club 1
At Lord’s in St. David’s, Young Men Social Club edged St. David’s 1 – 0.
The lone goal of the game came through Nigel Williams.
Ireland Rangers 1 BAA 4
At the Somerset Cricket Club, BAA defeated Ireland Rangers 4 – 1. The two teams were deadlocked at 1 – 1 at the break with Tahj Wade scoring for Ireland Rangers and Jonas Schroder scoring for BAA.
In the second half, BAA got goals from Toby Gibbons, Tre Burgess, and Riley Robinson to earn the win.
