Youth Film Festival Winners Announced
Saltus Grammar School shared the results of the second annual Bermuda Youth Film Festival held at BUEI in the Tradewinds Theatre on Wednesday, 21st June.
A spokesperson said, “The festival was founded by Therese Bean, Head of Creative Arts at Saltus Grammar School, in 2022 to encourage young people between the ages of 11 and 18 from across Bermuda to feel inspired to share their stories in film.”
Therese Bean shared, “It has been exciting to have Brooke Williams, Rashun Robinson, and Andrew Kirkpatrick back on board as our industry judges. There are exciting developments happening in film in Bermuda and it is hoped that the festival will inspire a new generation of Bermudian talent.
“We also appreciate Digicel lending their support to sponsor the major prize of an iPhone & 12-month Data Sim. The judges were really impressed with the participants’ growth in skill and storytelling ability and they were unanimous in their selection of the first place winner for Best Film, Star Land, from Mia Baccaglio of Warwick Academy, and Best Production Values going to Sienna Mosquera of Saltus Grammar School.”
Judge Brooke Williams added, “I’d like to thank all the budding young filmmakers for their excellent submissions. It was wonderful to see such creative and abstract stories and insightful documentaries, making each film completely unique. A lot of hard work went into creating the shot lists and editing, and the standard was really high.”
