Equestrian: Cody Rego Achieves Top Placings
Bermuda’s Cody Rego achieved top placings at Week 3 of the 2023 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival held in Traverse City, Michigan.
A spokesperson said, “Riding the 9-year-old Zangersheide gelding Domingos JT Z, Cody captured first place in the TCHS Equestrian 3’6”/WEC Premier Equitation Cup. This talented team went on to score 94 points in the WIHS Hunter Phase thus claiming another 1st place! In the WHIS Jumper Phase, Cody scored 81 to claim a commendable 3rd place for the WIHS Overall class division.
“As of 20th July, Cody Rego continues to hold the top-ranking spot for the WIHS. The WIHS Equitation Championship Finals will be held at the Washington International Horse Show [WIHS] from 23rd – 29th October 2023.
“Qualification for this prestigious finals is based upon two leagues. Only the top 30 riders from the East Coast League and the top 10 riders from the West Coast League are invited to compete in the WIHS Equitation Finals. In addition to qualifying for the forementioned WIHS Equitation Finals Cody, has qualified for two additional prestigious USA Championships.
“The ASPCA Maclay Finals is considered the ultimate equitation class for junior riders and is one of the most coveted Championships. Throughout the year, riders compete in specific Maclay equitation classes with the goal of qualifying to compete in the finals. The 2023 ASPCA Maclay Finals will be on 4th & 5th November at the National Horse Show, Kentucky Horse Park.
“The Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunt Seat Medal Final comprises multiple rounds and is judged on equitation over a jumping course set at 3’6”. Riders qualify for the finals by accumulating points in qualifying classes held throughout the competition season. The finals will take place on 15th October 2023 at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, USA.”
