Video: Sunday Oct 1st ‘Good News’ Spotlight
News that 23 new Bermudian firefighters completed their basic training, the Paget Parish Council awarded scholarships to Azalea Pontes, Mishale Corday, Zorena Anderson, and Alaiyah Hayward, Google announced a new transatlantic subsea cable system to connect Portugal, Bermuda, and the United States, and model Aliana King was featured by British beauty brand Charlotte Tillbury were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, the Bermuda women’s football team defeated St Vincent by a score of 4-0, Nia Christopher was named the CAA Offensive Player of Week and to the College Soccer News Team of Week, Stefan Simmons scored for Thomas College, Djair Parfitt-Williams scored in Finland, Stephen Smith and Ashley Couper won a triathlon event, Mia Fishel made her US National Team debut, Joshua Joseph scored again for Thomas College, and Dwayne Leverock’s iconic Cup Match catch appeared on a top 10 list.
Other good news stories included six people graduating from TLF Internship Program, a kayaking event raising money for SCARS, Nigell Todd being nominated for a Black Business Award, KBB and EY holding their annual coastal clean-up, Nalia Mitchell modeling at New York Fashion Week, and R&H promoting Matthew Corbin, Michelle DeRosa, Patrice Phillips, and Eva Grob, and welcoming Colette Simmons.
