Family Centre’s Cup Match Tag Day Campaign

July 23, 2025 | 2 Comments

Family Centre have launched their Cup Match Tag Day campaign, giving people the opportunity to sport their team colors while also supporting a good cause.

A spokesperson said, “Family Centre and title sponsor Clarien Bank officially kicked off their 25th Annual Cup Match Tag Day Campaign on July 1. This is Family Centre’s major community fundraiser for the year, and is dedicated in memory of Family Centre’s founder, the late Martha Dismont.

“You can secure your Somerset and St. George’s ribbons at retail locations throughout the island for a donation of $3.00 per ribbon. Alternatively, you can order your ribbons through Family Centre’s website or place a corporate order. The ribbons price is slightly higher as we offer free delivery of your order across the island.

“The funds raised through the purchase of your team’s ribbons or stickers support critical therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes such as Youth Leadership Academy, Beyond Rugby Bermuda, and Beyond Yoga Bermuda, offered at no cost to children, teens, and their families.

“Family Centre is honoured that our Tag Day is a part of this unique time on the island when family, friends and visitors come together to celebrate the historical importance of Emancipation Day and Mary Prince Day while watching the game of cricket, going to the beach, or doing other fun activities together. Our Cup Match ribbons represent the friendly rivalry between the island’s two Cup Match cricket teams: St. George’s and Somerset. Your Cup Match ribbon demonstrates your support of your favourite team, keeping the Cup Match spirit alive while supporting the nurture and care of children and families in Bermuda.

“Family Centre Tag Day will be held on Wednesday, July 30. Ribbons are now available at various locations throughout the island.”

Dr Sandy De Silva, Family Centre’s Executive Director explains, “Family Centre is Bermuda’s only nonprofit mental health organization for children and teens in Bermuda that is not hospital or government based. What is unique to Family Centre’s therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes is our wraparound, holistic approach to children and teens who are experiencing social and emotional challenges.”

“Family Centre is a critical resource to families with children between the ages of 4 to 18. Our therapeutic services are provided at no cost to families, thanks to the generosity of the community and donors who support fundraisers like Tag Day,” stated Thania Redman, Family Centre’s Relationship Development Director.

Jenn Wild, Chief Administrative Officer at Clarien Bank, shared: “Clarien is proud to support Family Centre’s Cup Match Tag Day once again. This initiative reflects our deep belief in strengthening community wellbeing, especially when it comes to the mental and emotional health of Bermuda’s children and families. The joy, unity, and purpose behind Tag Day remind us all that when we invest in our young people, the whole island benefits. 1. Kim Smith says:

I just went to Harbourview Front Street and Reid Street and to the Phoenix Stores and no ribbons to be seen for purchase. I know that their Tag Day is on July 30th but it seems to suggest above that the ribbons are available now to purchase… plus I see lots of people sporting the ribbons already.

    Am I just confused?

  2. Kim Smith says:

Sorry… I read the article again and see now where I can get ribbons today.
