37-Year-Old Man Fined $2000 For Cannabis

Devonshire resident Worrell Bean, 37, pleaded guilty to possessing four bags of the illegal drug cannabis on the night of 17th march 2012. The cannabis material in the four bags weighed 5.38 grams.

Mr Bean had the illegal drug in his possession in an Increased Penalty Zone – he was within 300 yards of Prospect Primary School.

Asked to explain, Mr Bean told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that he: “…was very sorry. I was outside my yard. I’m trying to stay out of trouble.”

Noting that Mr Bean had convictions for various offences stretching back as far as 1994, Senior Magistrate Archie Warner fined Mr Bean $1,000 for possession and another $1,000 for having possession in an Increased Penalty Zone.
