Sunday: Selena’s 4th Annual BBQ Throw Down
Selena’s 4th Annual Causeway BBQ & Block Party will be held on Sunday, September 1 on Kindley Field in St George’s, and will see barbecue enthusiasts converge upon the East End to earn trophies and barbeque bragging rights.
The day’s activities start at 11.00am and go on until 10.00pm with the BBQ contest, a pie eating competition, a DJ playing music, piggy back races, free mechanical bull rides, free fun slides, free fun castles and more. Organisers encourage parents to “dress children in their bathing suits and bring plenty of sun tan lotion and hats”.
The public will have the opportunity to taste test items from the competitors and then vote for the People’s Choice Awards. Other category awards will include Best Hamburger, Best Chicken, Best Ribs and Best Picnic Plate. Applications to enter are available at Selena’s Restaurant in Wellington St George’s or call 735-2979.
