December 10, 2013

Local author Jonathan Land Evans has released his latest book, titled A Colony at War: Bermuda in the Global Fight Against Fascism, 1939-1945, a tome that follows the intricate role that Bermuda played during World War II in a 450-page study.

The author’s description of the book states, “This wide-ranging study of the small but importantly-situated British colony of Bermuda during the Second World War includes such things as the Battle of the Atlantic, the creation of the US naval and military bases, the important Imperial Censorship station, as well as the myriad practical issues that confronted British, Bermudian and American officials as they sought to survive and win the war against Hitler’s Germany. From international diplomacy and intelligence-warfare to local politics, from U-boats to unions, there is much here to interest both students of the Second World War and those with a specific interest in the beautiful Atlantic island of Bermuda.”
