Premier, PLP Leader Meet With Robbery Victims

June 12, 2015

After the unfortunate incident earlier this week in which two visitors to the island were robbed, the couple met with Premier Michael Dunkley and Opposition Leader Marc Bean, and said they are recovering from the incident and look forward to coming back to Bermuda.

In a post on Instagram today, the Premier said, “After the most unfortunate incident earlier this week when visitors to the island Robert and Marion Zinman where robbed, I reached out to them to show our concern about the incident. I invited the Opposition Leader to join me when we met at the House of Assembly earlier today.

“We expressed our utter disappointment and inquired how they are doing. We were glad to learn that they are recovering and they look forward to coming back to Bermuda.

“Thank you Sen Baron for escorting them around town and bringing them to the House. All the best Mr and Mrs Zinman; we look forward to having you back in Bermuda soon!.”

Hopefully now both the OBA and PLP members AND supporters can see that the best results will come when BOTH parties work together for one common goal….a better Bermuda for all; our people, our visiting workers and our tourists.

I am so sorry that this ever happened to this couple. I wish them the best and I am grateful that our leaders came TOGETHER for this. Hats off to the two of you. I respect the two of you a little more today than I did yesterday.

    • Mockingjay says:

It is a nice picture but in reality the society is still living in two different worlds, would be nice to continue to see the diverse support at the football match on Monday, but 24th of May, Cup Match, America’s Cup parties, etc,etc are still divided.

  6. andrew says:

Good stuff. Great to see you both together representing Bermuda the way it should be. Keep it up. After all we are the ones who elect you. To unite us, represent us properly and lead us forward!

  8. Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

take the elderly couple out of the picture and what do YOU see..??

i read this a few times and i saw outstretched hands and the showing of concern but i didn’t see the part where they gave the couple back every cost incurred so as to ensure a return visit by a happy couple…

  9. crystal says:

AWW glad to see a negative turn into a positive!

  10. Raymond Ray says:

Without a doubt, it had to have been the most unexpected event to ever happen to these two individuals in their entire lives! Yet alone for it to have happened here in Bermuda where we are projected as, “friendly people” (which the vast majority are) as well as the Island being a safe haven…
I thank the two Leaders, Premier M. Dunkley and Opposition Leader Marc Bean for putting their individual political differences aside and to come together on behalf of Bermuda and its people on a whole.

  11. Dreadlocks says:

    Thankyou Premier Dunkley!

  12. I Portugal we have a fund acquired from work done by our prisoners from food they have grown which is sold and renumerates victims of crime…remunerative damages incurred of personal injury and or monitarily…effectively cover cost of ,hospital treatment, actual value comprehensively and or of visit,or personal property and or cash….the actual work done by prisoners who have caused harm or crimes of that nature…this teaches the prisoner the value of his actions and gives him or her an understanding they could learn in no other way….and …well nice gesture you byes…cudos…incidently Bermuda shorts are more comfortable ennit…

  13. Oh,I see now says:

Nice to see politics put aside by these two for once. After this I guess it’s back to the drawing board,it was nice while it lasted though.
