  1. And There's Hope says:

Omg I surely pray all are gonna be fine…

    • No Nonsense says:

Who are the foolish people that keep disliking some of the comments that are made. What if it was your child and someone is praying for them. I don’t understand people and there logic. I hope these young men are going to be ok. SMH

      • Yup yup says:

Perhaps they are objecting to the concept of praying, aka thinking, is in some way going to help, like some magic fairy is going to fly down from the sky and wave their wand and make them all better?

      • patty says:

It was announced that the Auxiliary Bicycles [No. 2] Act 2009 will come into force on April 1st, 2010. From then on, a ‘Bermuda Youth License’ will be issued to 16 and 17 year olds after they complete the Project Ride program. The Youth Licence has restrictions:

Not permitted to ride an auxiliary cycle with a passenger
Not permitted to drive on the roads between 1:00am and 5:00am. o how iz it 2 17 year old on a bike together.

  2. Green Horse says:

Lord be with these young men, they need a blessing, JEEEESSSSSUUUUSSSSS! AMEN!

  3. Rocky Noggin says:

Called Amen Corner for over 100 yrs for a reason…

    • concerned citizen says:

The main reason is how people drive, we cant blame the roads. Negligent and careless of their lives and others. Laws should be enforced to combat this serious problem. I fear every time I drive in Bermuda. Therefore you must take even more caution when driving.

  4. Triangle Drifter says:

It is an intersection where sight lines are pretty good. A rarity in Bermuda.

So what is the problem? Why so many crashes there?

    • uncle says:

people not payin tf attention its really that simple

      • Family Man says:

The fact that the pillion passenger was “catapulted some 20 feet, landing over a wall on the Warwick Workman’s Club property” might indicate that speed had a lot to do with it.

    • Me says:

we go through at least twice a day, queuing traffic tonight for lindos, people let you out but bikes keep over/undertaking in the busy traffic – not saying that is what happened but we see it a lot

      • Danny Leeth says:

In this case that’s exactly whar happened. A lot of bikers make decisions without seeing (or even looking for) the whole picture. They overtook someone who was about to turn over the hill from Four Ways side and failed to see the car turning over the hill from Warwick Academy side. It only takes a moment of misjudgement or miscalculation… My prayers go out to them, the driver, and rhe families.

        • Real says:

That is not exactly the same as what happened here. In this case the driver turned into the path of the rider.

        • De Warwick Bye says:

Perhaps this corner needs a traffic light, Cobbs Hill and Middle Road.

    • james says:

Excessive speed for the existing conditions.
      Like most accidents in Bermuda

    • Danny Leeth says:

Actually, the sight line is deceptively clear at rhis junction. In actuality, the sight only becomes clear once you reach a certain point on the hill. However, they, coming down the hill, would’ve been advantaged from a visibility standpoint. But going up the hill, you almost have to reach Cobbs Hill Road before you can see traffic comibg from town.

  5. Tekyuhtyme says:

Damn! Those guys must have been wangin’

  6. D says:

    OMG pray Bermuda

  7. Kevina Santucci says:

Praying for the young men and also the driver of the car! Lord please show favor and spare their lives! Give their families hope and comfort!

    • Family Man says:

If prayer worked the ambulance would have taken them to church rather then the hospital.

      • Real says:

Just because God doesn’t answer prayers from your ungreatful soul doesn’t mean he doesn’t answer other peoples prayers

        • Yup yup says:

Just because you assign a coincdental result as a validated proof of existence doesn’t make it a plausible conclusion

  8. Rock watcher says:

I hope and pray these young men make a full recovery….to the families of these young men we will keep you all in our prayers for the journey ahead…

  9. Comcerned says:

I really wish people would drive with more caution and consideration. These young people drive so carelessly nowadays and overtake from both sides. Please be careful thoughts of people getting injured or dying is very sickening and heartwrenching. Please drive safely and slowly.

  10. OutKast13 says:

Tired of people on this island wearing blinders. There is no way someone is thrown 20 ft and another trapped under a vehicle and say they weren’t speeding. If everyone was using care caution and courtesy we wouldn’t have these incidents. However this is something bermuda has lost years ago so here we go.

    • Real says:

Yes most people have their blinders on because the driver is at fault in this case. Plus your theory is flaud because a car can plaw into two people while they are standing still together and one person can be catapulted in the air while the other gets pined under the car.

  11. Seascape says:

People NEED to slow down and pay more attention when driving. Unfortunately, many think this will never happen to them and are always speeding, over/undertaking even on the curves of the road.

I hope these young men will be ok.

    • Seascape says:

If the rider of the bike is 17 years old, he shouldn’t be towing? Is this being enforced as I have seen several towing.

  12. Ride Safe says:

We as Bermudians need to take our roads more seriously.. driving/riding is not a game. We not only have to look out for our lives but the lives of the other people on the road.. Drive & Ride Safe Bermuda.. too many lives are put in danger because of bad decisions or silly mistakes on our roads.

Prayers go up for these two young men.. and to their families.

  13. tiffany says:

    poor young men

    • Triangle Drifter says:

Sympathy is appropriate where sympathy is due but how about if these two were speeding? What if they were trying to overtake the car right at the stop line? What if they did not stop at all? What if they did not even look? What if they did not take into consideration for the weight on the bike & steepness of the hill?

All of those what ifs are rider error. Nobody else. Who deserves the sympathy? Not the bike driver. The innocent & shaken car drivers deserve sympathy.

  14. Peter N Cooper says:

I gather the bike had been traveling fast weaving in and out of the traffic from back in Paget, May the injured boys have full recovery.

  15. Paul says:

The only thing that will stop these bad accidents is some common sense when people operate a car or bike. We live in a place that is only 21 miles long and can go end to end in an hour. Everyday people are speeding and overtaking just for the sake of not being behind someone. I am surprised there is not a person killed everyday if you look how people drive. It only takes a split second for something to go wrong and than your gone, or worse you have killed an innocent person. Slow down and enjoy the ride , we live in a beautiful place .

  16. Bless BDA says:

Yes I agree with NO Nonsense pray for the young men, but people are so cold hearted to dislike positive comments. They need to be prayed for also. We as Bermudians need to stick together more and look out for the youth. Also for ALL the negative people out there God doesn’t sleep you all would be the first ones to call on him when your in need of help. Just because it’s not your turn of need know that one day it will. May God be with you when that day comes for you!!!!!!

    • Yup yup says:

      God doesn’t sleep… because it doesn’t exist.

I find your scare tactics repugnant. Stop trying to shove your beliefs down peoples throats. It’s offensive.

      • swing voter says:

        Jesus isn’t coming back….because he doesn’t exist.

  17. swing voter says:

Thank God my Mobylette wasn’t high powered and capable of more than 50Kph. I actually had an ‘accident’ at 50Kph and the damage was minimal, names/addresses exchanged, no police, no insurance necessary.

  18. Observer says:

I am glad to hear that the injuries suffered by these young men are not life threatening, and I hope for their swift recovery. Looking at the photos and the degree of damage to the car, it does however appear that excessive speed may well have been a factor. In addition, if the ages of the young men (both 17) has been correctly reported, my understanding of the law in Bermuda is that they should not have been riding pillion.

    • Toodle-oo says:

It should also be noted that he bike had the white/green motorcycle plate on it , not the blue 50cc plate .

  19. Smiths says:

18 is the age limit for a motorcycle, the driver will now be charged with driving while disqualified by reason of his age. For that bike to do that much damage to a CRV he must have been doing some serious speed.

  20. Family Man says:

Riding underage means that he was uninsured.

That boy’s Momma is going to have a massive bill to pay for him, his passenger and the damage to the vehicles.

  21. D says:

Non-life threatening mercy they are very lucky and I hope this will teach them a lesson and the lord gave them another chance…

    • Teenage High Jinks says:

Unfortunately “non-life threatening” does not preclude a lengthy hospital stay and rehab. Who’s to pay? Most likely all of us eventually even if the parents have health insurance. I wonder how many are disabled from accidents which don’t make it to the news.

  22. Kim says:

Bermuda & the people there are beautiful. Let’s try & slow down. Come to a complete stop. Look both ways. You know use common sense. All I read is accidents & injuries. As a visitor, I would never rent a bike but even the buses I’ve been on you have to hold on to for dear life. Just be careful & pray for a speedy recovery.

  23. Allday says:

I all was involved in the accident, u bermudian people r pathetic fr, just think about it wen its your bie or nephews under a car regardless if we was speeding or not though we shouldn’t haven’t been towing n all that other stuff, stop acting innocent we all do things we ain’t suppose to do.. The car shouldn’t have tried to beat us then then stop in the middle of the road to brace for impact. F*** all u dumb a** people fr. Bless ya heart to all the people that still have one.

    • Yo' Momma says:

I think it’s time to learn proper writing skills bud.
