U15 Girls Football Team To Compete In Orlando
The Bermuda Under 15 Girls National Team will depart Bermuda on Tuesday [Aug 9] to participate in the CONCACAF Under 15 Girls’ Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney in Orlando, Florida.
Team players include Leilanni Nesbeth [C], Zakhari Turner, Adia Gibbons, Koa Goodchild, Giaya Melokot, Megan Titterton, Tianna Mullen, Delia Ebbin[VC], Emily Cabral, Danni Watson, Jadae Steede Hill, Trinae Edwards, Jya Ratteray Smith, Jaden Masters, Jordan Davies, Sh’Nyah Akinstall, Lindsey Pacheco and Nia Christopher,
Officials include Naquita Robinson – Head Coach, Vance Brown – Assistant Coach, Dashun Cooper – GK Coach, Amori Venter – Performance Rehab, Charryse Bean – Team Manager and Emmanuel Faria – Head of Delegation.
A spokesperson said, “The team includes “veterans” Nia Christopher and captain Leilanni Nesbeth who were involved in the CONCACAF 2014 inaugural edition where Bermuda impressed the technical study group with their style of play but did not advance out of the group stages.”
Head coach Naquita Robinson expressed; “We are pleased with this group of players. They have shown commitment to training and doing what it takes to be successful on and off the field. We also have one of the youngest teams in the tournament. For all but two of them this will be their first taste of International football but they are ready!”
The Competition is divided into 5 groups. The five group winners and the three runners up from groups A, B and C will advance to the quarter final round. Bermuda has been drawn in Group E with the Cayman Islands, Antigua and Barbuda as well as the Bahamas.
“Our girls open their tournament on August 11th against the Cayman Islands at 11am Bermuda time”, the spokesperson said. “Two days later, on August 13th, Bermuda will play the Bahamas at noon. They will close out the group stage the next day, August 14th, against Antigua and Barbuda at 10am. Follow their progress here.”
