Court: Man Admits Threat & Possessing Blade

April 17, 2018

A Paget man has admitted possessing an eight-inch blade and threatening to “stick” police officers as they tried to arrest him.

Robert Holdipp was detained by officers outside a home of someone he was connected with, after the person called police.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Holdipp, 24, ignored officer’s instructions to take his hands out of his pockets when they arrived at the scene and appeared “hostile”.

Further checks revealed there were outstanding warrants for Holdipp’s arrest so officers tried to detain him.

However Holdipp told officers: “If you touch me I’m going to stick you” and tried to escape and resist arrest.

He was eventually detained and secured in a police vehicle where police found an eight inch knife.

This morning at court he admitted having a knife in his possession without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

Holdipp had previously admitted using threatening words and violently resisting arrest.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared before his sentence and released Holdipp on bail until June 4.
