Celebrities To ‘Box’ At Aries Center For Charity
Aries Sports Center will be celebrating its first year of operation by giving back, supporting the Family Center by donating all of the proceeds of an upcoming event, which will see local ‘celebrities’ take part in short boxing matches, with Nadanja Bailey, Jah Simmons, Lamont Marshall, Qian Dickerson, Tinee Furbert and Maria Duffy all set to hit the boxing ring.
A spokesperson said, “Since Aries Sports Center is a community-focused facility, we thought it would be fitting to celebrate our first year of operation by giving back. We have chosen to support the Family Center this year by donating all the proceeds of this exciting upcoming event.
“We have a full day planned – free sample classes all morning, facility tours, courtyard martial arts demonstrations [in partnership with Cafe 4], and the main event.
“Local celebrities will get in our full-sized boxing ring for a friendly [minimal impact] boxing “bout.” They will have a few minutes with the coaches beforehand in order to prepare, and there will be strict rules to ensure that the event stays both fun and safe.
“Our participating celebrities will be Nadanja Bailey -vs- Jah Simmons; Lamont Marshall -vs- Qian Dickerson; and Tinee Furbert -vs- Maria Duffy. Each bout will consist of three one minute rounds.
“There will be two donation buckets for each pair. In one bucket, people can donate to add an additional 30 seconds to the final round.
“In the other, people can donate to save their favorite celebrity by reducing the reducing the final round by 30 seconds. The bucket with the highest number of donations by “fight time” will determine their fates!
“We look forward to a fun day that the entire family can enjoy, and we look forward to boosting the Family Center’s efforts in the process.”
The event will take place on Saturday, July 28th from 9am – 3pm at The Aries Sports Center located in the Windsor Place on the first floor.
Never heard of any of these “celebrities”.
