United Airlines To Expand Service In 2019
In 2019, United Airlines will resume its daily flight service to Bermuda from Newark International Airport six weeks earlier than it did in 2018, the BTA said today, explaining that United will begin daily service from Newark on April 29, 2019.
In 2018, daily service from Newark began on June 7 and ended August 20. It was a schedule that started later and ended earlier than the service offered by United in 2016 and 2017.
The Bermuda Tourism Authority welcomed the schedule change as good news for the island’s tourism industry.
“For many business and leisure travellers in western New York City, New Jersey and beyond, United’s service from Newark is the difference between going to Bermuda and not going to Bermuda,” said Victoria Isley Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
“We are working with our stakeholders, meeting and event planners and potential travellers, making sure they know this option for spring travel to Bermuda is available earlier than has been the case recently.”
Word of the expanded United Airlines service was revealed at today’s Bermuda Tourism Summit.
In 2016 and 2017, United Airlines began its service to Bermuda in early May, which ended in early September. In 2018, it trimmed the service to begin in early June and end in mid-August. Next year, service will begin in late April; inventory is already loaded for sale within United’s booking engine.
The Bermuda Tourism Authority and its partners continue to work with United Airlines to advocate for year-round service to the island from Newark, the BTA added.
This is all well and good but United is an awful airline to fly on and deal with. In addition can we look at expanding routes to Miami etc as well as the UK instead? We have plenty of options now to New York etc
I agree, enough access to NYC. Please look into another route to the UK. Why does BA have the monopoly?
This is not really being set up for us to go there. It is to make sure people who live there have a way of getting here.
United needs to take a page out of Continental Airlines’ success on the Newark route and reintroduce year-round daily service! Continental offered two daily flights during summer months and, with smaller equipment, served the island throughout the winter as well with daily service. As far as I know, it was a successful route for them, so what’s the deal with United?
Running Bermuda in the winter is not a cost effective choice
It worked for Continental … for years! Newark’s the preferred east coast gateway for many, both pleasure and business.
Great. United is my airline of choice and Bermuda is my summer location of choice!!!
