Review: Hamilton Princess Thanksgiving To Go
[Written by Mikaela Ian Pearman]
The holidays are all about food, which can sometimes be stressful.
First you have to decide what to cook, how many people you will be serving, shop for the food [hello super high grocery prices!] and finally, cook all that food.
Some people find joy in this and others, prefer to cater out the meal so that it’s one less thing to think about over the holidays. While I really enjoy cooking, in recent years, I’ve turned to catering for big holidays to lessen my already heavy load.
For Thanksgiving this year, instead of cooking up a feast, I turned to Hamilton Princess’s Thanksgiving To Go. Honestly, it was a no brainer. For just $299, I was able to pick up an entire feast on Thanksgiving which included roasted turkey along with traditional sides: garlic mashed potatoes, mac + cheese, sage stuffing, honey glazed carrots, kale salad, cranberry sauce, biscuits, gravy and pumpkin cheesecake for six to eight people.
I honestly couldn’t pass on this. When I calculated the cost of the food, plus the hours I would spend cooking it, this Thanksgiving dinner to-go just made much more sense.
But how was the food? Because it’s Hamilton Princess, I had high expectations. Thankfully they were met.
Everything was well-seasoned and full of flavour, including the turkey, which can be difficult to get right. I’m very particular about roast turkey because I make it the best [anyone who has come to my home for Thanksgiving or Christmas will agree with this bold statement]. I will admit, I had to eat the turkey with the gravy to keep it moist, but it was delicious.
Favourites included garlic mashed potatoes, buttermilk salt and pepper biscuits and the mac and cheese. For dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake was amazing – light yet decadent and filled with warm spices. It was a wonderful end to a delicious meal.
And you know what the best part is? Hamilton Princess is offering a similar feast for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The items are similar but also include cassava pie, glazed ham and bread + butter pudding. The feast is $349 for six to eight people.
If you’re anything like me and would love a chef-cooked meal this Christmas in the comfort of your home, you should place your order today.
