BUEI ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ To Feature Dolphins
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] will be focusing on dolphins for this month’s ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ on March 18th.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] is excited to reveal that Dolphins, one of the world’s smartest mammals, will be the focus for this month’s ‘Kids Hour Saturdays’ on March 18th!
“‘Kids Hours Saturdays’ takes place every third Saturday of the month at 11am and 2pm respectively. Each hour will feature the screening of two short films followed by a book reading for children aged 5-12 years old.
“This month’s ‘Kids Hour’ will showcase two short films entitled ‘What Sam Sees: Discovering Dolphins’ and ‘Real Wild: The Incredible Life of Dolphins’. These films will then be followed by a reading of ‘The Priceless Hogg Penny’ by Bermudian author and BUEI Programme Educator, Joanne Ball-Burgess.
“The first film, ‘What Sam Sees: Discovering Dolphins’, follows Sam, a young diver, who visits Baltimore’s National Aquarium to learn more about dolphins. In the film, Sam learns about the intelligence of dolphins and how they actually aren’t so dissimilar to humans after all. In the second film ‘Real Wild: The Incredible Life of Dolphins’, viewers will learn about the complex communication systems of dolphins and how they survive whilst also taking an in depth look into the lives of Spotted Dolphins in The Bahamas.
“The book for this month, ‘The Priceless Hogg Penny’, is filled with charming illustrations and highlights Bermuda and our local environment. This will be one you won’t want to miss!”
A BUEI spokesperson said, “Dolphins are known for being intelligent, family oriented and loveable mammals – they are the perfect encapsulation of why we must protect their ocean home for generations to come. Kids Hour Saturdays are free for members [Single Parent through Adventurer Tier] and $4 per child for non-members. Please note, caregivers must stay on site for the hour.
