Stempel To Compete In 2023 Youth Dressage
Dressage rider Robin Stempel will compete in the upcoming 2023 North American Youth Dressage Championships.
A spokesperson said, “Having achieved the requisite qualifying scores, the Bermuda Equestrian Federation is pleased to share that dressage rider, Robin Stempel, will compete in the upcoming 2023 North American Youth Dressage Championships. This year’s Championship will be held from 8th – 13th August during the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, Flintfields Horse Park in Traverse City, Michigan.
“The FEI North American Youth Dressage Championships is a unique and prestigious competition, which brings together top dressage [and jumping] athletes aged 12 to 25 years from North America, Canada, and neighboring countries. The competition provides an opportunity for youth riders to compete against their peers in a format similiar to that of the Olympic Games and other international senior championships.
“Given Robin’s strenuous academic demands as a bio-chemistry student, Robin did not compete in the 2022 North American Championship. Rather, Robin elected to concentrate on further developing her dressage skills under the tutelage of well-respected coach Tami Batts of North Carolina. Coupled with the experience gained from the 2021 NAYC Championship, Robin is confident and excited to step up to the Young Rider Division – in which division participants compete at the Prix St. George level. Robin will compete on her own horse, Rossano Royal 2, a 15-year-old Hanoverian Bay gelding.
“Countries competing in this year’s Young Rider division include the USA with 19 riders, Canada with 5 riders, Jamaica with 1 rider and Bermuda’s Robin Stempel – for a total of 26 competitors in this division.
“President of the Ground Jury for the Dressage Young Rider division is FEI Level 4/5* Dressage Judge Christof Umbach of Luxembourg whilst Members of the Ground Jury include FEI Level 3/4* Judge Cesar Lopardo Grana of Argentina, FEI Level 3/4* Judge Clive Halsall of Great Britain and FEI Level Judge 4/5* Judge Cara Witham of Canada.
