Bermudian Model Appears In Elle Magazine

June 6, 2012

Bermudian model Lillian Lightbourn continues to make strides in her career, gracing the pages of a top international fashion magazine this month.

A photo of Ms Lightbourn taken while she was modeling on the runway at New York Fashion Week appears in the June 2012 issue of Elle Magazine. Founded in France in 1945, Elle publishes in a variety of different languages in over 60 countries, with an estimated circulation of 1.1 million in the United States alone.

Ms Lightbourn said she was excited that of all the models in the show her photo appeared in the magazine, and said “this is just a little step of where God is going to take me.”

After starting out on the local modeling scene in 2007, the 5”10 model signed with AMP Model Management and relocated to New York City. Ms Lightbourn has been featured locally by online fashion magazine StyleBermuda who said when she first entered one of their casting calls “the energy in the room instantly changed” and that “she has the natural grace and perfect build for a model.”

      • Dawnelle Lightbourn says:

    • Dee says:

Don’t hate, it all comes down to genetics. Know what you talk about. Some people are blessed and know how to make it work for them.

  3. g-gurl says:

Congrats Miss Lightbourn ! Continue to make BERMUDA PROUD !

    • What Next says:

One thing once a Bermudian gets going somewhere it’s allways make Bermuda proud
how about make your family and friends proud. What has our country done for her what type of support?

      • smh says:

Aren’t we supporting her now? Soooo she’s making us proud? Us meaning Bermudians…

      • DarkSideOfTheMoon says:

Why What Next gotta be a bitter betch…

      • SHOWANAX says:

@Whats Next: You are an example of what is wrong with BERMUDA, this F’N sense of entitlement we have! What do you mean what has her country done for her? How about a free education, freedom of speech, freedom to travel, healthcare and so on. We have all heard it before, ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT INSTEAD ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY. Bermuda OWES me nothing and the reason this young lady is doing so well is probably because she wasn’t sitting on her butt waiting for someone to say..wow you are pretty, here is a modeling contract, but instead she WORKED FOR IT.

I like most other Bermudians just like her friends and family are proud of her. If you stop being such a bitter little person and get off your butt and fix your negative, spoiled brat attitude, then maybe, just maybe you too will see the big picture, set goals, work hard at something and someday after you do something POSITIVE I might say I am proud of you.!

Although something tells me you are the type of individual that calls talk shows all day and complains about everything and does nothoing! Who knows, there might be a future for you in politics!

        • SHOWANAX says:

Im sorry Ms. Lightbourne…I got so wound up by @whats nexts comment, that I forgot to say – Conratulations and thank you! I love showing my young daghters positive stories about positive young Bermudians so that they too can stay positive and think big! I am fearful that my daughters will become negative and have this sense of entitlement many Bermudians have like @whats next.

  4. K.T.B. says:

I really like how Bernews takes the time to report on these types of stories, it’s really refreshing to read somthing different for a change. It’s so nice to see a young woman follow her dream and see her hard work pay off, keep doing your thing Lillian!

  5. DANNG! says:

    You go LIIIIIIIIILLLLLL!

  6. beautiful nightmare says:

congrats Lillian so proud of you!!! continue to make Bermuda and your family proud!

  7. Pastor Syl says:

You GO!!! Ms. Lightbourne! So proud of you. May you continue to go from strength to strength.

Just seeing your picture in an international setting does wonders for the self esteem of Bermudians abroad. I have mentioned before the incredible feeling I experienced in London’s Selfridges in the 70′s on seeing a blow-up of Millicent Broadbelt’s face in their window. I look forward to hearing and seeing more of you.

  8. Aunt Carolyn says:

Lilly, congrats…you continue to make strides in your chosen career…that’s it girl…keep God first and he’ll keep you focused.
    Well done!

  9. CHARLIE says:

    Love you lots
