Upcoming: Global African Inventions Presentation

In honor of Black History Month, Africalogist Melodye Micëre Van Putten will host a presentation entitled, Global African Inventions on Thursday [Feb 27] at the Cathedral Hall in Hamilton starting at 5.30pm with light refreshments.

The presentation runs for 70 minutes, starting promptly at 6:00 pm and is suitable for school children of all ages.

A spokesperson said, “The eye-opening presentation will highlight the various inventions African people contributed to world civilization. Documented with patent numbers and academic resource materials, Global African Inventions is informative, insightful and entertaining.

“The presentation concludes with Q&A, discussion and poetry. Doors will open at 5:15 pm; tickets are $12.00.

“Committed to providing empowering information not readily available in Bermuda, Van Putten is the founder of Ashay University, modeled after her character education program Ashay: Rites of Passage.

“The community education courses have been designed for mature adults and fills in the gaps of global Black history, culture, struggles and achievements, providing this knowledge from a position of empowerment. She is currently teaching The Freedom Fighters, facilitated by the Guide to Self-Knowledge workbook and held at the Bermuda National Library.
