News that Bermudian striker Nahki Wells has transferred to Premier League’s Burnley, Flora Duffy became the second woman in ITU history to win five World Triathlon Series races in single season, DHL donated 90 laptops to Beyond Rugby, and Bermuda’s shipwrecks were featured on CNN’s homepage were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, Debra Friedman will unveil her book ‘Coming of Age in Wonderland: Portraits of Teenage Bermuda’ in New York, Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryazanskiy highlighted Bermuda from space, and Winter Olympian Dr Tucker Murphy donated a SkiErg to the National Sports Centre’s gym.
Other good news stories included Akinyi Apopa and Amber Reid being awarded 2017 BZS-Steinhoff Scholarships, Saltus students celebrating a 100 percent GCSE pass rate, a local company creating cookie dough made with a Bermudian twist, Jonte Smith scoring in a victory over Hastings United, and Bermudian goalkeeper Detre Bell saving a penalty and recording a shutout.
