News that BILTIR awarded a $30,000 scholarship to Cyana Burgess, the Bermuda football team won 8-1 with Nahki Wells setting a new record, Penny & Drum released a new candle scent to honour Bermudian autism advocate Ahmani Peets, and Treasure Tannock has been chosen as the 2021 Duperreault Fellow were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, 11-year-old Davonte Richardson recently became the Bermuda Karate Institute’s first junior black belt in over 20 years, Bermuda’s tennis team won Davis Cup matches, Madelyn Moore won a fourth gold medal at CCCAN, the memorable catch by Bermudian cricket player Dwayne Leverock in the World Cup was featured as a question on the popular game show Jeopardy and  the Paget Parish Council presented $1,000 gift certificates to Paget Primary, St. Paul’s Preschool, and Gilbert Institute.

Other good news stories included Karina Forth and Chloe Powell being selected for the Chubb Select internship, Appleby volunteering at Sherwin Nature Reserve to support the Bermuda National Trust, Café4 offering a chance to win a trip to New York, and the Hamilton Rotary Interact Club holding a welcoming ceremony for new members at Shelly Bay Beach and donating to Friends of Hospice.
