Video: Sunday April 23rd ‘Good News’ Spotlight
News that the Department of Child & Family Services’ Solution-Focused Advocacy Training [SFAC] Committee — including Dr. Zina Zuill, Dr. Annisha Peets, Terri-Lynn Richardson, Maureen Trew, Simone Romaine, Shaydrina Hassell, and Lisa Talbot — won the Public Service Excellence Award, 6-year-old Shivya Arun Konaru asked her friends to donate to a local charity for her recent birthday, Hamilton Princess donated $3,000 to the Women’s Resource Centre, 13 Department of Corrections Officers were promoted, and Neletha Butterfield released a new book were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In other good news, Trey Mallory and his partner Drew Broadstreet of UNC Wilmington were named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, Kaden Hopkins claimed a bronze medal in the elite men’s time trial at the Pan American Road Championships in Panama, Bermuda defeated Anguilla in women’s football, Scott Barnes claimed two more local karting titles, Finn Moseley earned top finishes at a swim meet, and Casey Truran helped Savannah College of Art and Design win a national championship.
More good news stories included Na’imah Astwood being appointed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, our Wallpaper Wednesday series featuring a unique emoji with a Bermudiana headdress, a British reality TV star sharing Bermuda photos, and Nancy Anne Miller releasing her book Pink Typewriter.
