Kristina Ingham Promoted To 9th Dan Black Belt

Veteran martial artist Kristina Ingham has been promoted to 9th Dan Black Belt and awarded the prestigious title of Hanshi by the World Headmasters Sokeship Council.

A spokesperson said, “The martial arts community of Bermuda is celebrating a historic achievement as Kristina Ingham has been promoted to 9th Dan Black Belt and awarded the prestigious title of Hanshi by the World Headmasters Sokeship Council. This accolade makes her the highest-ranking female martial artist in Bermuda history, specifically in the discipline of Goju Ryu Karate, and any other martial arts she has mastered.

“Kristina Ingham’s journey in martial arts began over fifty-four years ago, training alongside her late husband, Skipper Ingham, a 10th Dan himself. Together, they dedicated their lives to the art of Goju Ryu Karate, profoundly influencing the martial arts landscape in Bermuda.

“Ingham has been a pillar of the Bermuda martial arts community, teaching and mentoring countless students over the past half-century. Her dedication to her students and her commitment to the art form have earned her a reputation as a respected and beloved instructor.

“In recognition of her contributions to martial arts and her exceptional skill, the World Headmasters Sokeship Council has bestowed upon her the title of Hanshi, an honor reserved for those who have demonstrated the highest level of mastery and leadership in martial arts.

“Receiving this promotion and title is not just a personal milestone; it reflects the hard work and dedication of all my students and the support of the Bermuda community,” said Ingham. “I am deeply honored and will continue to uphold the values and traditions of Goju Ryu Karate.”
