Open Airways To Celebrate World Asthma Day
Open Airways announced their celebration plans for World Asthma Day on May 7 in Victoria Park, offering free consultations with asthma-trained educators, live music, and discussions on asthma management.
A spokesperson said, “Open Airways is pleased to announce their plans to celebrate World Asthma Day, this Tuesday, in Victoria Park from 11:30am to 2pm.
“World Asthma Day is an annual event celebrated globally to improve asthma awareness and care throughout the world. Bermuda joins approximately 80 countries around the world to mark this day, each country will celebrate in a different way.
“Open Airways will have asthma trained educators at Victoria Park giving free consultations. Bring your inhalers with you and learn how to control your asthma, then you’ll receive a free Pillow, a Spacer and technique demonstration, as well as a Microfiber Cloth [while supplies last].
“Shine Hayward will be filling the park with his wonderful music, as well 52 talented students from Warwick Academy will join in the celebrations. Bring your lunch and enjoy!
“This year’s theme is Asthma Education Empowers – concentrating on the reasons not to overuse blue relievers [Ventolin or Airomir], as well as the reasons not to underuse prevention inhalers [Beclomethasone and Flixotide]. We will also discuss Smart Therapy, using one inhaler instead of both of the above, considered most appropriate for anyone over age 12.
“We will be reminding adults and children of the importance of spacers for all and will be discussing how to reduce triggers.
“Please come and meet with one of our Asthma Educators to find out!
“Don’t forget to bring your inhalers along. We’ll help you take control of your asthma. Remember – Asthma is treatable! No one should suffer with asthma. Join us in Victoria Park from 11:30am to 2pm on Tuesday, 7th May. Learn More, Breathe Better!”
