16 Yr Old & 22 Yr Old Shot In Friswells Hill

[Updated] There was a shooting just now (June 16) in the Friswell`s Hill area, with at least one person having been shot. We have limited information at this very early juncture but will update as able through the night.

Updates Posted As They Come In:

11:39pm: We are on the scene now, and being told that by the residents it was around 8-10 shots fired. Police have the area cordoned off, with Police still arriving.

11:46pm: We have credible, although unconfirmed information, that it was two men shot.

12:16am June 17: Motorcycle police officers have arrived, and forensic unit has arrived. We unofficially understand that a female may have been arrested at the scene, not correlated or suspected to be involved in the incident, but as she was extremely irate.

12:30am: We can confirm it was two men shot; a 16 year old and 22 year old – that is official confirmation from the Police.

12:36am: Official Police statement below:

Police responded to reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Friswells Hill and Middle Terrace in Devonshire at 10:48pm Wednesday night. Upon police arrival it was ascertained two men a 16 year old Pembroke man and 22 year old Pembroke man were shot. Both men were taken to KEMH and are being treated at the hospital for their injuries. Officers from the various unit are on scene and an investigation into the matter has commenced. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact Police on 2950011 or call Crimestoppers on 1 800 8477.

1:55am: Police still on the scene in high numbers

2:05am: Hospital appears not to be on full lock down, but there are at least three marked Police cars, and at least five officers present outside the emergency doors.

8:04am: We understand there are rumours going around that one of the victims has died, we just confirmed with Police media relations manager Dwayne Caines that this is not true, and that both victims injuries are considered to be non-life threatening.

4:40pm: As of this afternoon, both victims are in stable condition on a general ward.

10:00pm: The 16 year old has been released from hospital, and appears to be doing well.
