Sunday September 27th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that Pope Francis extended a blessing to Bermuda while flying over the island, Rai Simons scored twice in a victory for his Chesterfield club, Harneys will establish a presence in Bermuda, Flora Duffy winning in Italy, and Bermudian Sherlrina Thomas having the “experience of a lifetime” with a career at sea were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included Paradise Games presenting a $2,000 scholarship to young cricketer Delray Rawlins, Bermuda’s Trinity Sound being one of the featured DJs at the Flavor Fest Conference in Tampa, Florida, Dean Stephens being named cricket Player of the Week, Bermuda’s Ashley Yearwood being named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team, and the Hamilton Rotary Club cleaning up 350lbs of trash on the Paget shoreline.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the clean-up of an area of the North Shore, the BBA Madison Criterium Cycling Race, the Jamaican Association of Bermuda’s awards banquet, CedarBridge Academy’s Peace Day Assembly, BMRC motorcycle racing, the cricket Twenty20 finals, the Bermuda Sub-Aqua Club clean up and P.A.L.S. Mad Hair Day.
